How To Track Email Origin Location

This is a simple guide on how to track email’s originating location by checking the email’s IP address and looking it up.

How to obtain IP address of an email sender in GMail, Yahoo Mail, and Outlook Client

Google’s Gmail

1. Log into your account and open the email.

2. Click the down arrow next to Reply link. Choose Show Original from the list.

Now start looking for a line start with “Received: from“. You’ll notice there are multiple Received From’s in the message header because the message header contains the IP addresses of all of servers involved in routing that email to you.

To find the first computer that originally sent the email, you’ll have to find the Received From that’s most below of the page.

Yahoo Mail

1. Log into your account and open the email

2. At the top right, there is a drop-down menu where you will see Standard Header and Full Header.

3. Click on it and choose Full Header.

4. Follow the similar step in Google’s Gmail.

Microsoft Outlook

1. Open the email in Outlook

2. Go to View at the top menu and choose Options under your email window.

3. At the bottom you’ll see the Internet Headers box.

Tracking the location of an IP address

Now you already know your email’s originating IP address. Next, you need to check the location of the IP address. You can use IP2Location or Domain Tools

Enjoy tracking down suspicious email.

Broadband Connection Speed Test

Broadband internet is the premium internet connection for any home and business user providing a service of outstanding features and benefits that save time and money when using the internet. Here are a list of the many advantages of obtaining a broadband connection:

24/7 connection – When using a broadband service, you are provided with a dedicated line that can remain connected alongside a telephone line removing the hassle of dialling up and logging on every time you need to use it. There is also no need to disconnect the internet when you want to make a phonecall.

Faster speeds and larger bandwidth – The slowest broadband of 1Mbps can send and receive 20 times more information than a standard dial-up connection. This also helps when transferring files to and from your PC, ensuring quicker download and uploads speeds.

Standard monthly fees – As most broadband providers charge simple monthly charges for your internet connection, there are less parameters standing in your way when connected. So even if you use the internet constantly or once a month, you know what you are paying!

Real time communication – With the advent of instant messaging and webchat, you no longer have to wait for replies and you can communicate for business or personal reasons in real time. This is also applicable to online gaming and social networking sites.

VoIP – Services such as Skype offer free telephone calls using your broadband connection. This can be extremely handy when speaking to friends and relatives from around the world at a fixed or free rate.
Business file and data transfer – With the increased speeds available, sending and receiving spreadsheets and detailed presentations has never been quicker and easier. This can help your business run more effectively and efficiently. This has also meant that working from home is 100% possible as most things you need in your office can be accessed from home.

Website content and presentation – As the internet speed increases, the possibilities for improved content is being truly realised. Websites are now very detailed and stylish and offer a more attractive experience for the user.

Many service providers claim to offer download speeds of various strengths. How would you know the speed of your connection? There are many sites available that can run almost instant Broadband speed checks

to ensure your computer is living up to its true potential.

The speed checks report on the strength of your signal for uploads and downloads and can measure a variety of connections including ADSL, cable and mobile broadband.

If you are dissatisfied with your internet connection speed, check your terms and conditions with your network provider and if out of contract, shop around for the best deal for you and your business

Cheapest Broadband Services

As the price of broadband services has gone down in the UK over the last few years and the speed of the connections has risen equally quickly the uptake has been consistent and widespread, with the UK now a very close 6th in the world rankings in terms of households with a broadband internet connection, sitting near as makes no difference to the 60% penetration mark. With the latest broadband technology, mobile broadband, still growing and predicted a further three years of market expansion, prices are going to fall across the board as ISPs clutch about for new customers and try to hold on to their existing ones before they slip off to a cheaper deal. Here`s a top ten of the cheapest broadband packages in the UK.

  1. Virgin Media Size M – for only £4.50 for the first six months provided that you take a Virgin phone line, you`ll get 2Mbps unlimited fibre optic broadband with free weekend calls to any UK landline bundled in as well. This is the cheapest, best value bundle on the market today, though the speed may be too slow for some
  2. AOL Wireless Flexi off-peak – Up to 8Mbps ADSL broadband with a 10GB monthly cap is only £4.99 for the first 3 months with AOL. The great thing is that there`s no minimum contract so you don`t have to make a long commitment, and off peak calls are free! However your area may affect the price of the package
  3. TalkTalk Essentials With a minimum contract of 18 months this £6.49 a month package comes with a free wireless router and free off peak calls during weekends and evenings, and the line rental is cheaper than BT too. A generous 40GB limit on downloads is set
  4. Tiscali Option 1 8Mbps broadband with unlimited usage and free weekend calls, along with the obligatory wireless router all for £6.49 for the first three months
  5. O2 StandardIf you`re an O2 customer their basic broadband for the home will only cost £7.34 a month, and currently the first three months are free. However, non-O2 customers will pay more. It is still a good value unlimited internet service
  6. BT Option 1 The famous BT home hub wireless router is included free in the 8Mbps basic package from BT, which features a measly 10GB monthly cap and an 18 month contract length at £7.78 for the first three months. You do get free calls to UK landlines as a plus though
  7. Virgin Media Size L – The second Virgin Media entry in the list, with six months half price line rental and reliable and fast fibre optic cabling giving you speeds of 10Mbps it`s a good deal if you live in a cabled area
  8. PlusNet Option 1 You may only get 2GB monthly usage, but overnight usage between 12pm and 8am is not included so all your downloading can be done overnight with no penalties. The flat rate of £9.75 is also great and VoIP calls are included for free
  9. O2 Premium The same as their standard pack but with up to 20Mbps download speeds. Again the price is exclusive to O2 customers.
  10. Tiscali Talk 1 – Though this is not the cheapest broadband option, line rental is included in the monthly cost, as are weekend calls
