Connecting Your Computer with a TV

Here is a brief guide on the methods that you can use to connecting a computer with a TV.

1. S-Video – One of the most common and popular method because S-Video cable is very cheap and almost any TV support it. Most of the new laptop come with a S-Video port. For desktop computers, you will need a graphic card that have TV output. For your information, there are two types of S-Video cables which are 4-pin and 7-pin. Most laptops and computers are came with a 7-pin port. Therefore if your TV only have a 4-pin S-Video port then it will not work.

2. VGA – If you have a HDTV, then you will be better off connecting using a VGA cable. The quality is much more better than S-Video. VGA cable has 3 head.

3. DVI – The digital signal will give a higher quality picture than either S-Video or VGA. Your computer will need to have a DVI port and you need a HDTV. This type of cable is expensive.

4. Scan Converter Box – You also can try using a scan converter box, which takes a VGA signal and converts it into S-Video or component video.
