Windows Vista is a big NO for 3D Gamers!

First of all, Windows Vista has a big issue in hardware incompatibilities. There is numerous driver incompatibilities after you upgraded to windows vista. What has been surprising is the frustrations gamers have experienced in getting their existing hardware such as 3D graphic cards. etc. 3D Games are reported running at 20% to 40% slower frame rates under windows Vista. Not surprisingly, the chief culprit is 3-D card drivers, particularly for DirectX 9 (DX9) and lower video cards.

Vista would remain slow and resource-hog up until we get cheap 8-core CPUs and affordable DDR3 memory. for the average dual-core CPU and DDR1 or DDR2 memory, Win XP or Linux is your best bet.
